Hawkline Boat Company

Ray Clark, advertising representative for WoodenBoat magazine, sent photos of his parents’ old Hawkline runabout. Here’s what he knows about the boat.

“Playmate was bought new by my grandfather in 1959 for my father who was 16 at the time. The first photo is my mom and dad at age 17 in 1961. The boat is still Hawkline and was purchased in Providence, Rhode Island. I’m guessing it was named for the brothers who sold the boat; one was Nelson Hawkins, who says the hulls were molded in Maine. The Hawkline Boat Company was in business in Westport, Massachusetts from 1976 to 1990. Can’t find much of anything about the company prior to that.”
